DR Congo
The Democratic Republic of Congo is a country of contrasts in the heart of Africa. Through our work, we showcase the DR Congo’s unparalleled coffee excellence.
On the island of Idjwi in Lake Kivu, rare Bourbon varieties grow on volcanic soils at cool altitudes. In partnership with the SCPNCK cooperative, we open up new perspectives for farmers through the cumpa network and support the reintegration of former rebels and refugees into civilian coffee production. In the west, in the Mayombe rainforest around Lukula, we accompany Canephora to its wild and colonial origins. Here, genetic diversity becomes the basis for independent Congolese specialty coffees and a new, self-confident Congolese coffee history emerges.
