Journeys to the origin

True to our mission “connecting people in friendship”, our commitment goes beyond the import of specialty coffees. What is especially close to our hearts are our trips to the origin. Together with coffee roasters, we go on a journey so that they can get to know farmers, the country and its people and immerse themselves in the world of coffee cultivation.

Review

In 2018, 2019, and 2023, we traveled to Peru with roasters to immerse ourselves in the world of coffee cultivation. In January 2023 and 2025 the journey took us to Vietnam. Grab a coffee, sit back, and virtually join us on a trip.

The journey to Vietnam with Cumpa was a once-in-a-lifetime experience in every respect – professionally, personally, and organizationally at the highest level. Perfectly planned, intensively curated, and offering a genuine glimpse behind the scenes of an impressive coffee nation.

We visited producers who cultivate Fine Robusta, Liberica, and Excelsa with the utmost precision and quality awareness – as well as exceptional Arabicas and experimental co-fermentation lots that open up new aromatic horizons. This trip fundamentally changed my understanding of Vietnamese coffee.

From Ho Chi Minh City to the coffee region of Dak Lak, every kilometer promised new experiences: sensory, culinary, cultural. Particularly memorable were the encounters with the people behind the coffees: warm, open hospitality and a palpable pride in their work. Equally impressive is the modern coffee culture in Vietnam’s coffee bars – creative, professional, self-confident, and outstanding in taste.

Vietnam is not only the world’s second-largest producer of commodity coffee – the country is also establishing itself with enormous dynamism in the premium segment and is now rightly playing among the world’s leaders. This trip has made me a real fan of Vietnamese coffee.
