Finca Las Mercedes has been family-owned since 1886. It is located in eastern El Salvador, in the Tecapa-Chinameca coffee region, which is characterized by the majestic volcanoes Tecapa, Chinameca, and Chaparrastique. The rich volcanic soil and the natural microclimate are perfect for growing coffee. ‘Tigrito’, meaning little tiger or tiger coffee – that’s the affectionate nickname Lucia gives to the Yellow Icatu from Lot El Naranjo. The yellow cherries develop dark yellow stripes as they ripen, indicating when they’re ready to be harvested.
