“Seda Dorada” is an exceptional Canephora green coffee of the BRS2314 variety. The honey process gives the coffee a silky mouthfeel and incomparable honey-like aromas. The name refers to the golden orb-weaver spider that lives abundantly on the finca, symbolizing the sweetness of the coffee cherries. During our visit, Luis Sotillo from Kiva Estate noted, “The more spiders there are, the sweeter the coffee cherries”
Thus, “Seda Dorada” stands for both an exceptional raw coffee with golden, honey-like flavor notes and a silky mouthfeel, and it points to the nature-friendly production on the finca in Toabré, Panamá.
On the path to producing exceptional Canephora coffee, it is not only the flavor profile that must be perfected but also the careful selection of the coffee — an area that still presents structural challenges. Yet we see these coffees as rough diamonds and wish to accompany our partners at Kiva on this journey.
