Marañón #00044

The only road leading to Germán’s finca follows the Marañón River along its banks. It is the main source of the mighty Amazon River and carries abundant sediment from the Andean glaciers into the rainforest. The climatic difference between the valley floor and Germán’s hill is enormous. Up on the mountain, coffee grows in the cool, humid climate of the mountain rainforest. Here Germán harvests and ferments his coffee. Then he brings the humid parchment down to the Marañón, where it is desert-dry and hot. This allows him to dry even exotic processes cleanly and the coffee is served the optimal climate for each process step.
