On Fazenda Bomfim and Sítio Liberdade, Luciano Dutra Pimenta cultivates Conilon and Arabica at two different altitudes – combining family tradition with scientific curiosity. Inspired by his wife Renata and supported by IFES (Federal Institute of Espírito Santo), he experiments with anaerobic fermentation, and recently began using stainless steel bioreactors to further enhance the quality of his Conilon.
Drying takes place on covered patios, raised beds, and using mechanical dryers. Carefully selected varieties and clones result in coffees with precision, origin, and personality.
Luciano’s lots have received multiple regional and national awards in recent years – including 4th place at SIC 2021 for fermented Conilon, the title of State Vice-Champion in Arabica (2015), and a state-level sustainability award. His journey demonstrates that with knowledge, passion, and a clear vision, great coffees can be produced – even on a small scale.
