Doña Clomalda came to Monzón with her husband Don Primitivo from the mountains of Peru, the “Sierra”. Like almost all the inhabitants of the valley, her family first tried their hand at coca cultivation. But the violence associated with this led to much suffering in the valley. With the help of USAID and the Peruvian anti-drug organisation DEVIDA, Clomalda made the switch, first from coca to coffee, and later from coffee to speciality coffee. Today, the exclusive Gesha lots from her finca stand for a successful transition and positive development in the Monzón Valley.
