The farmer with the distinctive name lives with his wife Clomalda on a small finca in Macora, hidden in a distant valley in the Monzón region. The slopes, overgrown with dense rainforest, are so steep and high that there is sun only from 9 am to 3 pm. Here, Don Primitivo cultivates the Gesha variety. His coffee came 20th in the Cup of Excellence Peru 2020 – as the first and only coffee from the state of Huánuco. With his progressive work, Don Primitivo has become prominent and represents Monzón’s shift away from coca to speciality coffee.
