Hidden on a hill in the mountain rainforest near Moyobamba is the mystical finca “La Piramide”. Don Martin has lived here like a hermit since he and his family had to flee in 1999 after an assassination attempt on him. It is a difficult place for coffee production. The many boulders and ruins from pre-Inca times make working with coffee enormously difficult. But they also make the finca a magical place. You feel small here, in the midst of huge trees and the natural noise of the jungle. Together with his son Jimmy, Don Martin has run the Aproeco cooperative and learned a lot about coffee. Thanks to his devoted work, his children now live independently and achieve life goals that he could not fulfil in his own life. His delicious microlots are the result of many years of friendship and make us very grateful.
