As a young man, Gover left his parents’ finca in the jungle to work for the Aproeco cooperative in the town of Moyobamba. After starting as a simple warehouse worker, he worked his way up over the years. Today he is a jack of all trades and knows the entire coffee value chain, from the finca to the port. He cultivates, roasts, tastes and sells his own coffee. He produces sophisticated coffees in complex anaerobic fermentation processes. The finca thus became known in the village and beyond as a good example of integrated agriculture and agroforestry. In 2018, we planted trees together that now provide shade for Gover’s Bourbon coffee plants.
