This coffee is called ‘Cayetano’ to honour Luis’ great-grand father Cayetano, who bought the farm in the 1940ies to cultivate coffee and cardamon. It’s a blend on farm level, composed of the varieties Castillo (15%), Catimor 5175 (35%) and Marsellesa (50%) . The Miravalles estate offers – as the name suggests – incredibly beautiful views of the plains, but you don’t even have to look that far, because the estate also boasts an incredible diversity of biodiversity which Luis Duarte highly values, promotes, and protects. Here, you’ll find a variety of native old trees, and the classic shade trees are additionally planted where needed. The soil beneath the coffee plants and along the paths is covered with colorful flowers, and insects buzz around in between. A walk through this farm is like strolling through an old park, constantly discovering something new. No wonder the coffees grown here reflect this incredible diversity in the cup.
