Café Pacas is not just a brand name; it is family. A family that has been deeply rooted in coffee for generations. The coffees are more than products; they are an integral part of the family. The result of hard work and creativity, business, love and passion. Maria Pacas’s younger brother Alfredo, affectionately called ‘El Nano,’ is the proud godfather of a very special coffee — the unique Orange Borbón, naturally processed. It comes from Finca La Esperanza. Only a very limited amount is produced each year. The nickname El Nano comes from the Spanish word ‘enano,’ meaning dwarf. Small but mighty. The unusual color of the coffee cherries, in this case orange, is a result of a rare genetic mutation that occasionally occurs. In this instance, it was deliberately propagated, and a small lot was planted with Orange Borbón, which explains the significant fluctuations in the annual harvest. Over the past few years, Finca’s Finest has been able to import this extraordinary coffee multiple times, and its consistent excellence in cupping has convinced us to purchase the entire available amount once again. An unusual and captivating coffee—we are truly delighted.
