Finca Miravalles – Diversity on Volcanic Soil

Finca Miravalles is located in Atiquizaya at elevations between 1,290 and 1,600 meters and spans 125 manzanas, 40 of which are preserved as native forest. This intact ecosystem not only protects the microclimate but also fosters rich biodiversity on the farm.

Beneath the shade of trees like pepeto, mango, avocado, and citrus, a wide range of varieties thrive—among them Bourbon, Caturra, Pacamara, Sampacho, Castillo, and Catimores. The soil—a mix of clay, sand, and a small amount of loam—combined with a mild climate and abundant rainfall, creates ideal conditions for producing aromatic, complex coffees. Cherries are carefully hand-picked and processed as washed, honey, or natural, depending on the lot.

Finca San Luis – Tablón La Gloria: Small but Full of Character

Located in Concepción de Ataco, the historic Finca San Luis was named by Vilma Herrera de Duarte in honor of her husband, Dr. Luis B. Duarte. Coffee has been grown here since the 1960s, with a strong focus on the Bourbon variety. The heart of the farm is the small plot Tablón La Gloria, covering just 2.69 manzanas at an elevation of 1,282 meters.

La Gloria was personally named by Dr. Duarte in 1969, convinced that this piece of land could produce coffee of exceptional quality. Today, Bourbon plants still thrive here under the protective canopy of native Inga trees. Harvesting is done selectively by hand, and the coffee is processed using the traditional washed method. Notes of molasses, apple, chocolate, and a delicate acidity make La Gloria a true signature lot.

More Than Individual Farms: A Shared Philosophy

Whether Miravalles, San Luis, or other plots—every Tacubaya farm is united by a common goal: cultivating coffee as a true expression of origin and craftsmanship. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand and in multiple passes to ensure only the ripest cherries are processed. For select lots, the family operates a small, dedicated beneficio near Laguna Llano El Espino.

With its own export license and close partnerships with regional collaborators like Los Ausoles and COEX, Tacubaya maintains full control over quality and traceability all the way to the port. The name Tacubaya stands for transparency, sustainability, and a strong connection between origin and consumer.
