Review: Canephorum Zurich

Following the successful launch of Canephorum in Frankfurt, the second edition in Zurich was another significant step forward for everyone who is enthusiastic about the diversity and potential of Coffea canephora. Coffee experts came together in an inspiring atmosphere to exchange ideas, learn, and discover.

An absolute highlight was the tasting of 27 Canephora coffees from 16 different countries – an impressive taste journey through a wide variety of terroirs and processing methods that impressively demonstrated the sensory range of Canephora.

The workshop led by Dr. Fabiana Carvalho (The Coffee Sensorium) opened up new perspectives on the perception of taste: How do we perceive flavors? How do our sensory experiences differ? Her research is inspiring – especially her project to develop a flavor wheel for Canephora that is in no way inferior to its Arabica counterpart.

The presentation of the internal Nespresso Canephora catalog also offered deep insights: from genetic diversity and reproduction cycles to the results of international farm projects that specifically improve the quality of Canephora — a highly exciting contribution to the further development of the species.
