Uncommon Coffee Blend: One Congo, Two Worlds

The Connection

This blend connects our Petit Kwilu Canephora from Western D.R. Congo with our Idjwi Arabica from Eastern D.R. Congo.

Two different species. Two different regions. One country.

It shows the richness of a country that barely participates in its own wealth. This blend brings full body, a complex experience, and a moment of conscience for those who are rarely talked about.

The Story

This blend tells the story of D.R. Congo through contrast and connection.

In the East, Arabica was introduced through colonial structures. In the West, Canephora was taken from forest regions and later became part of the global expansion of Robusta and Conilon.

By bringing these two coffees together, the blend reconnects two sides of the same country and places D.R. Congo at the center of the conversation, not as a forgotten path in coffee history, but as an origin with depth, diversity and identity.

The Cup

  • The #00202 Petit Kwilu Canephora brings cocoa, black tea, dark chocolate, dried fruit and liquorice. It adds depth, body and intensity to the blend.
  • The #00179 Idjwi Arabica brings black tea, red currant, brown sugar, red apple and floral notes. It contributes clarity, fruitiness and aromatic complexity.

The Impact

This blend matters because it gives D.R. Congo a stronger and clearer position in the cup.

It transforms a fragmented historical narrative into a complete origin story, showing how one country can express both intensity and delicacy, body and brightness, past and future.
